20TH CENTURY

Let’s go back in time to the Roaring Twenties in Paris.

The Grand Hôtel de Bachaumont in the heart of Montorgueil was an institution in the French capital.

It takes its name from Louis Petit de Bachaumont, a controversial writer who disclosed sordid secrets about 18th century France in his “Mémoires Secrets”.

THE HOTEL GUESTS OF THE TIME

Celebrities, doctors, society and writers flocked to the hotel for its great location by Les Halles and its markets.

Wealthy provincial merchants all went down to the Grand Hotel de Bachaumont, they would discuss their deals and concluded with indecent diners

But when the largest market in France moved to Rungis, the hotel was left deserted.

THE KEY UNDER THE DOOR

The hotel closes down, before La Clé Group reopens it.

A century later the Hôtel Bachaumont is restored to its former glory! Months of extensive work have given it back its heart and soul: the façade has been painstakingly restored, the age-old Hôtel Bachaumont wording engraved in the stone has been brought to light, the wrought iron gate has been refurbished... The first in a collection of elegant and timeless establishments, the Hôtel Bachaumont has brought its age-old charm into the 21st century.

SINCE 2015

Today, the establishment joins again with its glory years. The hotel, its french restaurant and two bars endeavoured to make revive its history and its seal of yesteryear.

The 49 rooms in five categories have been based on four colour combinations. The large and light bathrooms pay tribute to the Roaring Twenties with their vintage taps and lavish tiling. The balconies and terraces in some rooms have magical views of Paris’ rooftops or the glass roof. On the top floor, 4 suites are named after local streets: Montorgueil, Montmartre, Louvre and Bachaumont, designed as artist studios.
